The Wedding

The major event which overshadowed (in a good way!) the whole holiday season was the Washburn wedding! My little sister Jill was a beautiful bride. Thanks in no small part to the long hours that my mother put into sewing and hand beading her amazing dress.

The first event of the whole wedding extravaganza was the open house at Tevya's parents home in Nampa, ID. We left from Spokane with my parents and sisters in two cars. Roads were very bad nearly the whole trip and even though we should have been there in plenty of time under normal we ended up being there very, very late. This was not only embarrassing and unsettling for us, but we also had Jill's dress in the back of the car! Poor girl.

Fortunately though, we did make it there in one piece and were welcomed so very warmly to the Washburn's home that our frazzled nerves were quickly healed! After the guests had gone we had a great time just being with Tev's family. We got to watch the Star Wars meets Indiana Jones movie Tev made starring his little brothers, and Kelsie and sang them a love song while my sister Ali accompanied her on the guitar. I wish I knew the title and artist of the song, but it's the one on the Old Navy commercials that goes "if you are chilly, here take my sweater". It was very sweet. My one disappointment was that I didn't get to meet Bruce- the family's gianormous Newfoundland.
The next day was the wedding at the Boise Temple. Tevya's grandfather sealed them and it was absolutely beautiful. He had some great words of wisdom for them, and I hope they wrote it all down afterward!

The wedding was on Sat., and the following Tues. we did a reception in Spokane. Jill's colors were Cranberry and Chocolate, and she had ice cream cupcakes (I hope someone took a picture of those), Great Harvest sweet breads with different spreads, and glass apothecary jars filled with chocolates, red wrapped truffles, and red jelly bellies. It was very beautiful and not a crazy big production. Just very nice.

Griffin keeps saying in his prayers "thank you for my new auntie". I guess he's not accustomed to uncles yet, but we're all very grateful to welcome Tevya to our family. It's a great blessing to see my sister so happy with someone I know I can trust to take good care of her. And I know she'll do her best to take care of him too!

Oh, and let's not forget. They are going to be honeymooning in Florida and the Bahamas! I'm so excited for them! It's true that when it's your honeymoon it really doesn't matter where you go because you're pretty much glowing anyway, but taking a trip like that isn't something that most people get to do everyday, so I'm really excited for them!

It was freezing! And Lauren is not visible because I had to keep her buried in her blankets to stay warm!

Thanks for such a glowing report of our wedding Tara! You're always to nice to me with your compliments :) We sure did love it, so I'm glad other people did too. Thanks for being there. We're trying to get ourselves back together after being in laa-laa mode for so long, so were working on posting about all of it on our blog, but it might take a little time. Keep checking! Love ya from both of us!
