Kid Report

This is another edition of the ongoing publication know simply as The Kid Report.

Lauren:
This past weekend Lauren rolled over two different times... And I missed both of them!
And today she is wearing her first pony tail! Okay it's more of a top notch, but still pretty good for a three month old!
Also, we've discovered that Lauren is a Spanish baby. She says "Hola!"
And if our family in Saratoga Springs is listening, Lauren says thank you very much for the gift card and adorable handmade card. She's going to use it to buy clothes. Shopping is in her blood, what can she do?

Griffin:
A lot of kids his age have imaginary friends. Not my Griffin. Griffin has imaginary bullies. He has a nice bully and a mean bully. His mean bully has done everything that Griffin is not supposed to do. And he likes to eat or do anything that is gross or disgusting. He is from Griffin's old speech class (he's only ever been in one speech class), and Griffin has started setting traps for him around the house by looping the vacuum cord around the furniture and across hallways!
Griffin's nice bully has all the things that Griffin likes. His nice bully likes Legos, and Transformers, and has all the toys that Griffin wishes he had. His nice bully also has a sister, and he is always nice to her. I only had one brother, so I don't know. Do most little boys have alter-egos?
Griffin is also starting to invent names and words, which is pretty interesting because even his normal speech is sometimes hard to understand. The added challenge of trying to discern whether or not you are supposed to recognize the words he is saying makes everything more interesting.

Kelsie:
Kelsie is still loving school, and loving the boys at school. She is Kinder Kid this week, which means she gets to bring pictures of herself and her family to put up on the bulletin board, and she gets to stand in line behind the line leader (very big deal!). Another special thing they do for the Kinder Kid is make a book with a drawing in it from each child in the class. The first two drawings were from two boys that Kelsie is always talking about. They both drew her as a princess in a castle. Very precious!
Another thing that is interesting about Kelsie is that she loves infomercials. They seem to especially run a lot of them on Saturday morning during cartoons, so when I wake up on Sat the first thing Kelsie is telling me about is the magnetic claps that I need to buy for all my necklaces or the the mixer that I need to buy that makes salsa in 10 seconds, or all the many uses of Moon Sand ("and it doesn't even dissolve in water!"). So the commercial that has caught her attention most recently is an Aveeno commercial. "Mom, this stuff takes the red out of your skin. You have lots of red in your face, maybe you should get some!" Very thoughtful of her, ne'st pas? So if any of you have ever tried the Aveeno lotion that is supposed to even out skin tone, let me know what you thought of it. Apparently my current skin care solutions aren't even impressing my five year old.
One last story I'll share about Kelsie. I'm not proud of this one, but it's taught me an important lesson. I went to Missoula last night to do some shopping with my friend Rachel, and we got back really, really late. So Lauren and I both slept in, and our usual schedule of her going down for a nap so that I can get a shower in the morning was interrupted. So I asked Kelsie if she would play with the baby while I took a quick shower. The baby was in a good mood, so I thought they would be okay. I was as quick as I could be, and when I came out in my towel to see how they were doing, I found found all the kids in their room watching TV. The only problem was... They were all three on the top bunk bed!!!!! I don't know how she got Lauren up there, but just thinking about what could have happened sends creeps up the back of my neck! Obviously, I gave her a bit too much responsibility.

I love reading your "kid report". It is so fun. You definitely need to print these out for keeps. I was laughing out loud while reading it. Kids are so fun. Not much experience on boy alter-ego's though, that would be D'Lonna's department. But I do have to say that kindergarten has got to be the best year of the kid's school career. That is such a fun age.

Wow! How DID she get that gal to the top of the bed?! Yes, dangerous, but certainly impressive. Congrats to Lauren on her top notch. I'm such a fan of little gals in pig tails.

I cannot believe you're lil Kelsie Lyn! She was on one! With agility like that she should be in gymnastics or something. Oh, and as far as Griffy goes, at least he isn't to the point of having imaginary animals to prtect him...that's just weird :) Keep it up you little blogger you! And don't forget that we need Tara and James Reports too!!
