You know, life is just great at handing us little lessons. Before I sent Kelsie off to school this morning we talked about recess and, you know, being proactive about making friends (all of this because of the talk we had that I wrote about in my last post). So Kelsie was in a pretty good frame of mind when I sent her off. When she came home I asked her how school went and she said, "Mom! There was someone new at school today, and I played with her at recess the whole time!" It feels like a little miracle. My little girl was lonely for a day, so that the next day she would be ready to help someone else's little girl who felt lonely. To me, it all speaks to perspective. Things do seem to work out for the best when you just keep going. I hope Kelsie can look back to this someday and remember that.
Thanks everyone for your advice and comfort. I'm so glad this experience turned out so well, but I know there are still a lot of social issues ahead! The last thing on earth that I want to happen is for my sweet girl to loose her spark. These kids of ours have so much to share, and sometimes it seems like all 'the world' wants to do is convince them otherwise. I don't know about you guys, but I see that as one of my top challenges as a mom.

Having someone who will play with you your first day is the best gift anyone can give. Even at my age, and even with my confidence, walking into a new ward with no one who will "play" with me...very tough!
What a great story! I'm so glad things have turned out well!
I'm so glad her day went better. She sounds like a gal I'd want my girls to be friends with! (Girls can be pretty mean!)
I read this post before the last one, and I'm so glad I did. I get so sad when kids have a rough time with friends. It's so heartbreaking. I worry about my little neice all the time. I'm so glad she's met a new friend. A little miracle, you're right.
hey tara, we just got back from seattle where i saw becca. i told her about your blog. :)
I swear girls can be so mean, but it sounds like you have gem. It is wonderful when Heavenly Father answers your prays even when it not how you expect.
Hi!!! We had the flu for a while so I'm catching up...
This is exactly the reason I am nervous to send my little guy to kindergarten. So excited in lots of ways, but the closer it gets the more anxiety I feel about all the difficult experiences and "new info" he will be exposed to. This was so good for me to read and learn from! You are such an awesome mom. But seriously...one of the Miller's...how could you not be? :)
I LOVE the new look! Totally cute and it just looks like you.
