Kelsie's Poetry

Kelsie's second grade teacher, Mrs. Kirby, has been just wonderful. She's fun and energetic and has high expectations for her kids. Kelsie just loves her!

One of the things that Mrs. Kirby likes to emphasize is creative writing. She teaches them to use descriptive language with fill in the blank type poetry assignments. Sometimes they come out really funny, and I thought I'd share a few. Somehow they seem to have very adult sub-texts to me... Tell me what you think.

Butterflies

Butterflies here, butterflies there
Butterflies, butterflies everywhere.
Pokerfaced butterflies infesting wildly
Blind butterflies inferring tenderly
Serene butterflies withholding shakily
And black and white butterflies imagining far
Butterflies toward the smart board
Butterflies on my nose
Butterflies in the wild
And butterflies inside of a butterfly farm
Butterflies here, butterflies there
Butterflies, butterflies everywhere.
Butterflies! Butterflies! Butterflies!

Leprechauns

Leprechauns here, Leprechauns there
Leprechauns, Leprechauns everywhere.
Dainty Leprechauns facilitating anxiously
Dogmatic Leprechauns topping frantically
Vacant Leprechauns fidgeting reluctantly
and snappy Leprechauns locating repeatedly
Leprechauns at the end of the rainbow
Leprechauns out of the store
Leprechauns over the dog
And Leprechauns past the radiator
Leprechauns here, Leprechauns there
Leprechauns, Leprechauns everywhere.
Leprechauns! Leprechauns! Leprechauns!

Tara,

Could you leave your email address as a comment on my blog or just email me? My computer crashed not too long ago and I can't find your email address.

Did Kelsie really come up with those words in her poem by her self? If so, WOW! what a vocabulary! Bpth poems were very well done. You must be very proud of her Tara!
